Important Advantages and Features
If you were to look at the inner workings of a typical single conductor cable, you’d find a construction that begins with copper strands wrapped around a stranded and insulated wire. On top of this, jacketing is extruded on the cable along with steel wire layers that are contra-helically placed in order to ensure increased cable protection and endurance. Since the wire layers placed here are galvanized, they can also be utilized within systems as a safety grounding.

One way that Single Conductor Cable differs from Multi Conductor Cable is that transmission of data (especially video) is not affected by the length of these cables. In data applications, signals undergo modulation at the point of recording devices or receivers, and these signals are then transferred to a controller, which demodulates it. Typically, you’ll also find this cable type to be smaller in terms of diameter and to have a higher amount of breaking strength than multi-conductor cable. In addition, this category of wire and cable is generally easier to maintain, since the amount of time needed to replace end connectors, splice, or carry out fixes is much lower.

Safety Benefits
We know that safety is always a top concern for our customers who are using cable in electrical applications, whether they be residential, commercial, or industrial. Added safety is one of the benefits of single conductor cable, since it has insulation on individual wires and an outer jacket made of plastic material. For the operator to come into direct contact with any wiring, then, it would require going through at least several layers of metallic protection and insulation. Single Conductor Cable is safer to use because of this, and it even meets approvals for usage in hazardous installations.
