With stock available from multiple manufacturers and suppliers including Kalas Manufacturing, Coleman Cable, Southwire, General Cable, and Omni Cable Corporation, OneStopBuy.com offers various gauges of Welding Cable in custom-cut lengths. As 600 volt cables rated for temperatures of -55 degrees Celsius to 105 degrees Celsius, Welding Cable is suitable in secondary voltage resistance welding lead applications and for AC power supplies within the cables’ voltage rating range. Sizes for these cables range from 6 AWG (American Wire Gauge) to 500 MCM.

In addition to being compliant with RoHS standards, Welding Cable has a great deal of flexibility and is not easily vulnerable to cuts, abrasion, or effects from compression. An EPDM or Neoprene jacket, which is available in black, red, and orange color configurations, is also extruded onto these cables.

Benefits and Features
In accordance with ASTM B-3 and other related standards, the conductors on these devices are made of fully annealed, stranded bare copper and built with a class K or class M stranding. The most suitable applications for these cables are those with connections between electrode clamps and arc welders, buses, welding boxes, or transformers.

The major manufacturers and suppliers from which we carry cable, such as Kalas, Coleman Cable, Southwire, General Cable, and Omni Cable, have built standard as well as more premium versions of Welding Cables for heavier-duty usage applications like cranes and hoists. This type usually has an orange-colored jacketing and greater amounts of stranding. It also has a higher temperature rating and is compliant with more stringent industry standards.

Class K vs. Class M
When it comes to differences among Welding Cable varieties, stranding is one thing that always counts. This is because the flexibility of these cables, for the most part, is determined by stranding. Manufacturers tend to offer two categories of stranding on these products, Class K and Class M.

Class K is characterized by strands sized 30 AWG and is identifiable by its jackets that are commonly colored black or red. The second type, Class M, has 34 AWG stranding and offers a greater amount of flexibility and durability as a result. Class M Welding Cable comes with an orange-colored jacketing material. You can generally expect this cable option to be higher in price because of the greater amount of copper needed to strengthen the jacket.

Choosing the Most Beneficial Cable
It is important to keep in mind that, when you need to select the most fitting size of welding cable for equipment needs, it is preferable to choose the size that can best deal with the welder’s maximum output. In order to decide on this, you first need to know several criteria including the welding circuit’s length, the rating of the welding power source’s output, and its duty cycle.
