SEOOW Cable remains one of the popular varieties of flexible and portable cord offered by manufacturers like General Cable, Coleman Cable, Southwire, and Omni Cable that is available through our site. These products are rated at 600 volts and for a maximum operating temperature of 105 degree Celsius, with conductors made of fully annealed stranded bare copper and a reliable thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) insulation and jacketing material.

Because of its construction qualities, SEOOW wires are well-suited for a number of portable and flexible cord applications. These include usage in power tools for indoor applications, in lighting fixtures graded for both industrial and consumer applications, and in the supply of power for office tools. They are also utilized in the powering of construction sites and other industrial-grade equipment.

A good way to understand the features of a cable like SEEOW is to look at the specialized industry code from which it derives its name. The acronym SEEOW stands for four different things. The first letter, “S,” designates that this is a service cord, while the “E” stands for its elastomer material. Two O’s in a row establish that this is a cable variety that is oil-resistant both within the insulation and when it comes to its outer jacket. Finally, the letter “W” makes it clear that SEEOW is designated by Compliance, Safety, Accountability (CSA) standards for use in applications that require resistance to the effects of water and weather.

Southwire, General Cable, Omni Cable, and Coleman Cable are all known for manufacturing and distributing SEOOW cord that complies with several crucial industry standards and has met various approvals. For instance, SEOOW cable meets UL Flexible Cord requirements under UL Project 62, which applies to cord of this type that measures between 18 and 10 AWG. Another standard met by these products is the CSA ones regarding C22.2-49 Flexible Cord. These cables are also MSHA approved and RoHS compliant.

In addition to meeting the above standards, SEOOW has a handful of important material benefits and features. For example, their lightweight and careful construction allows for optimal levels of flexibility in the relevant applications, as well as excellent molding ability. Their jacketing material makes them resistant to oil and water. Also, the fact that 18 to 10 AWG SEOOW cables are c(UL) listed also makes them appropriate for use both outdoors and indoors. Another crucial feature of SEEOW cables is their thermoplastic, elastomer jacket. The benefit of this particular material is that heat causes it to get soft while cooling allows it to harden. hough it does not have quite as much durability as the thermoset material used in other cable types, it has a lighter weight and a good amount of flexibility.

SEOOW cable’s extra advantage is its capabilities in handling low temperatures, ones as cold as minus 58 degrees Fahrenheit. That being said, though, SEOOW cord should not touch surfaces with high levels of heat. It’s important to remember that cables like this, which have thermoplastic elastomer jackets, have still not been given a flame-retardant designation by way of CSA standards. It is always important to ensure that cords have markings on the outer jacket designating this feature before using them in a potentially inappropriate application.
