Coax Cable

(Results: 56 Found; Refine your results by making selections from the menu)

Available from Omni Cable and Belden, the Coaxial Cable Types that we carry are among some of the most popular and easily understood cables used by installers and consumers. Coaxial cabling is regularly utilized in transmitting electrical signals across locations, as well as connecting these signals from loads, like transmitters, to antennas.

The identification of these products is usually made in relation to either impedance or RG-type. For instance, it is common to see coax with a certain number of Ohms or a designation like RG6, RG11, RG59, or RG62. The construction of a coaxial cable includes two conductors with a dielectric material separating each of them. Both the shielding and the conductor that it surrounds are put together in a co-axial manner, which is the origin of this cable’s name.

Construction of Coax Cable
The coaxial cables we offer through Belden and Omni Cable undergo testing with equipment that recreates all sorts of conditions for various electrical applications. Because of this, our customers can rely on these manufacturers and expect that their products will provide years of dependable and problem-free usage.

With the engineering for these cables having been done to create an array of available materials and product sizes, Omni and Belden coax cables provide numerous benefits in a number of important applications. The choices for coax cable choices range from precision, digital broadband and standard analog to bundled RGB and video triax, as well as many others.

Customers will find conductors in the center of coax cable devices to be built from a variety of materials depending on the application. More commonly, these products contain solid conductors or types made up of multiple stranding. Tinned or plated copper is also used in order to provide improved solderability and lessen the common effects of corrosion. When it comes to conductors, insulation is another important feature of coax cable that is intended to provide a safe and reliable separation between conductors. You will find materials like polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), fluorinated ethylene propylene (FEP), and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) being used for this purpose.

The jacketing that surrounds the entire cable provides protection from elements outside of it, especially flame and moisture. This is usually made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), FEP, PE, or polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) materials.

Another crucial feature on these cables is their outer conductor, a piece which is built with the careful combination of multiple aluminum or copper conductors. By weaving these parts together, manufacturers like Belden and Omni create a braid that is fashioned around the cable’s dielectric core. In applications that call for higher frequencies than normal, additional braiding or tape consisting of aluminum foil will often be added to improve the usefulness of the cable.

Shielding Varieties
A final important aspect to consider in coax cables’ design is the numerous options we have with regard to shielding materials. The coax lines featured on our site are varied enough to accommodate multiple application needs.

One example from Belden is Duofoil, which is a metallic foil shield that is to both sides of a cable’s polyester or polypropylene film. This is there to provide additional coverage and protection for sensitive cable devices. Duobond is similar, but has the added benefit of an extra heat-sensitive layer that is adhered to the dielectric core.

We encourage you to speak with our customer service representatives if you’d like to find out more details about these or other shielding types like Duobond II, Tri-Shield, Quad Shield, and the foil/braid/foil choice known as Duobond Plus.
