With a reliance on Voice and Data Network cable stock from the manufacturer Belden and Omni Cable distribution, one line that we offer within Voice and Data Network products is Category cables. Under these Category cables, configurations are available ranging from 3 to 7, all of which have twisted pair constructions and features that lend high performance capabilities. An important rule of thumb to keep in mind when selecting these is that a cable’s bandwidth handling capability increases as its category number increases, with Cat 7 cables possessing the greatest amount of bandwidth among all telecommunication wires. These products have certifications in accordance with the applicable UL standards for such products.

A second area that we carry Voice Cabling and Data Network cable products in and offer  customer support for is Premise cabling. This essentially refers to any whole cabling system that deals with voice, data, video and power and is related a user's premise. With Local Area Network (LAN) applications in particular, a popular cable variety has been unshielded twisted pairs (UTP). Fiber optic cables and coaxial cables are also widely used in LAN installations, which are a type of installation where a data network exists to serve multiple users through a shared communication line, server, or processor within the same specific area.

Some other major differences in configurations among voice and data network cable products include paired and non-paired options. Paired cable is identifiable whenever a cable’s conductors are arranged in groups of two (in pairs). On the other hand, whenever a cable features two or more conductors that are not paired together, this is considered to be non-paired.

Another variation related to this is twisted pairs. With these, two lengths of conductors with copper insulation surrounding them are twisted together. Basically, this has been the primary method used in the past for establishing a wired connection between homes or workplace computers and a telephone company. Both of the wires that are twisted around one another in twisted pairs are necessary for a data connection of this type. In other Voice and Data Network cable applications, such as those involving commercial environments, the ease and reliability of data transmission can see marked improvement when the wire also includes composite tape. Shielded twisted pairs like this are beneficial because they help cut down on interference with the signal.
